Source Signature Keyword:
FLR: Flare
DFLR: Double ribbon flare
PEA: Post eruption arcade
FIL: Filament eruption
DIM: Dimming
EUVW: EUV Wave
Morphology Keyword:
FS: Flux Rope and Shock Candidate
Note: Bright fast complex-shaped full halo CME associated with the X1.8 class flare from AR 3848 (N13W08) which has two lobes/fronts (and more western slightly earlier one and a more central, northeastern one. The flare is associated with a significant eruption marked by an EUV wave, a large area of deep dimming and bright post-eruptive arcades. There also seems to be the second eruption - an initially slowly developing eruption of a very large filament spanning from N20W15 to N15W55, to the northwest of the Active Region 3848, which starts prior to the X flare (~2024-10-08T22:19Z). This earlier eruption may be responsible for the more western lobe/front (potentially a separate CME), while the flare could be responsible for the more central, northeastern lobe/front of this complex CME.

Two-coronagraph analysis of the complex-shaped (two-lobed) brighter front we consider bulk of this CME. Analysis is based on the source location (location of the X flare), confirmed by a good fit in two coronagraphs. Encompasses both the more eastern lobe/front of this CME. and the more western lobe (which are best seen in LASCO C2). |

Two-coronagraph analysis of the more central front/lobe of the complex halo CME seen in coronagraphs. The source of this front is likely associated with the X-flare. This analysis is based on the fit (in two coronagraphs) of only the eastern/central lobe/front of this complex. The more western lobe considered in THIS analysis to be a separate 2024-10-09T02:23Z CME associated with a large filament erupting to the west of Active Region 3848 just before the X flare. |
